Sean “P. Diddy” Combs will “rest easily” after Tuesday's verdict, according to one of his attorneys.
The rapper was convicted of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, with each count carrying a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. He was acquitted of the more severe charges - racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking - which could have resulted in a lifetime incarceration.
His lawyers sought his release on a $1 million bail, but Judge Arun Subramanian denied that request, indicating that Diddy will continue to be detained as he anticipates sentencing. Speaking outside the Manhattan courtroom following yesterday's hearing, attorney Anna Estevao characterized the decision as a "significant victory" for the hip-hop magnate despite his bail being denied.
