It was a big night for Afrobeats, Africa, and especially Wizkid as the the iconic Nigerian artist bagged the Bet Awards with his global hit “Essence” featuring Tems and American singer, Justin Bieber.

Just when we thought we were done with the endless success of Wizkid’s “Essence”, the global hit springs up another award winning the “Best Collaboration” category at the just concluded BET Awards.

Tems, who was live at the ceremony, gave a rather inspiring appreciation speech.

“THANK YOU, BET… THIS AWARD IS FOR REALLY WIZ, AFRICA, AND I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT GREAT THING IS HAPPENING OUT OF AFRICA RIGHT NOW AND THE LIGHT IS ON EVERYONE THERE… THIS IS DEDICATED TO AFRICA AND TO NIGERIA. THANK YOU.”

However, other songs were nominated for this category, songs like “Every Chance I Get” by DJ Khaled Feat. Lil Baby & Lil Durk, “Family Ties,” by Baby Keem & Kendrick Lamar, “Kiss Me More” by Doja Cat Feat. SZA, “Way 2 Sexy” by Drake Feat. Future & Young Thug, and “Whole Lotta Money” (Remix) by Bia Feat. Nicki Minaj.
